Times, They Are a Changin'

I believe that a lot of what is being done by the current Kansas Government will probably turn out to be wrong.  With that said, if the States don't try to do things a little different, where will the impetus of change come from?   If left unchecked, the Federal Government will continue to bloat until our democratic society and the the underlying jobs will eats its self.   Bankruptcy courts across America are the proving grounds that spending more than you make year after year will cause failure.  Adding to the size of Government won't stop that from happening at a more massive scale.

The other day I listened to one of the Talk Radio hosts talk about what he calls the under informed voters.  Those people he feels are swayed by the popularity of candidates and not the wisdom of a few.  He asked what will it take for this to change.  Years ago, I read that it takes a Significant Emotional Event to get people to really change their underlying thoughts. The book solution at that time was that our thoughts drive our behavior.  That may have been true a few years ago but I think the influence of the instant media and rapid communications has just caused a lot of people to not know who to trust and what to believe.  Only 8% of the electorate thought the Congress of the United States was doing a good job before the last election.  Over 90% of those running got re-elected.  Don't ask me to explain what I don't understand.

Have you seen the commercial where a young girl said that, "They can't put things on the internet that aren't true."  Next time you look something up, look at the page recommended from Wikipedia.   There might be a lot of facts there but it is also a lot of Faction or what we want to believe with just enough facts thrown in to make it believable.  The rest is just re-posts of cute pictures and pornography.

Turkeys eating like it was the Internet

Yesterday I went to the Doctor for my yearly Physical.  Over the last year, I gained 20 lbs and lost 10 of that back so the net effect is +10 lbs.  Had this been a warmer winter, I would not mind the weight if I was in good (or better) shape   I am glad to see that the blood pressure I have is well under control.  128 over 66 isn't a bad place to be.  I didn't get the Cholesterol results but my prostate isn't lumpy.  I will go visit the VA later on this month and they will do an A1C reading to see how my near diabetes is doing.  I hope it is down to less than 7.0 and not nearing the 7.4 reading that would put me on medicine.  We'll see.  For some reason the Lab my doctor uses doesn't do an A1C reading and the VA does.

Oh well, better get the show rolling.
